About Your New Base

Honest guides for people who live and work from anywhere.

What this site is

Your New Base is a collection of independent city guides written for digital nomads, remote workers, and location-independent entrepreneurs who are deciding where to live next. We cover the things that actually matter when you're thinking about a move: monthly rent for a realistic apartment, internet reliability, visa options, local nomad community, walkability, and — yes — whether the coffee is any good.

Every guide follows a consistent structure so you can compare cities on the same terms. We also publish a NomadScore for each destination — a composite rating weighted across cost, quality of life, visa accessibility, community, internet, fun, and weather — so you can get a quick read before diving in.

Our approach

We try to be honest, even when it's unflattering. If a city has a serious problem — air quality, safety, a frustrating bureaucracy — we say so. We don't accept sponsored placements or paid inclusions in our rankings. The NomadScore formula is fixed and applied consistently across all 30 cities.

Cost data (especially rent) moves fast. We update guides when our data becomes meaningfully out of date, and each guide shows a "last updated" date so you know how fresh the information is.

Who's behind it

Your New Base was started by Nick Andrews, a digital nomad and entrepreneur who got tired of reading surface-level "top 10 nomad cities" listicles that recycled the same six destinations. The goal was a resource that covers a broader set of cities with enough depth to actually inform a decision.

The site is independently owned and operated. There are no investors, no ad networks, and no sponsored content.
